The Forktree Project Code of Conduct

Thank you for volunteering at The Forktree Project. Volunteers make a vitally important contribution to The Forktree Project’s rewilding work, and in so doing play an important part in combatting climate change and biodiversity loss. We greatly appreciate your involvement.

In the interests of the safety and wellbeing of all volunteers and Forktree Project representatives, we ask that you read and adhere to this Code of Conduct:

1. The Forktree Project will provide appropriate induction and training for all tasks that it asks volunteers to undertake. Volunteers agree to complete any induction and/or training that may be necessary and relevant to the tasks they undertake.

2. Volunteers agree to undertake tasks in consultation with and according to the guidance of representatives of The Forktree Project.

3. Volunteers agree to follow all instructions in relation to the preservation and protection of the site and assets of The Forktree Project.

4. The Forktree Project has appropriate public liability insurance and voluntary workers insurance in place and has appropriate First Aid equipment on site. However, volunteers understand and agree that they themselves and not The Forktree Project remain responsible for their own safety while volunteering.

5. Volunteers agree to provide reasonable notice to the Volunteer Coordinator if they are unable to fulfil the commitments they have agreed to (e.g. volunteering on site on a particular day).

6. Volunteers and Forktree Project representatives all have the right to work and volunteer in a safe, friendly and cooperative environment. As such, all volunteers and Forktree Project representatives agree to treat each other with respect and courtesy.

7. Volunteers agree to respect the privacy of individuals and businesses involved at The Forktree Project, whether as representatives, volunteers or contractors. All information received during the course of the volunteers' work will be treated as confidential and not disclosed to external sources. The volunteers' own personal information will be treated confidentially.

8. Volunteers agree to report immediately to The Forktree Project representative or Volunteer Coordinator any accident, incident or injury that occurs during their volunteering time.

9. The Forktree Project retains the ownership and copyright of any material produced and created by volunteers in fulfilling their role.

10. Whilst volunteers’ service is gratefully received by The Forktree Project, volunteers understand that their service is not remunerated.

11. Volunteers will be required to obtain a Working With Children Check if they are volunteering at the same time as young people or to provide details of a current and valid check.

12. Volunteers may be required to obtain a SAPOL police check or provide details of a current and valid check should circumstances require it.

13. Either party has the right to terminate the volunteer agreement between The Forktree Project and the volunteer at any stage should they deem it appropriate to do so.

14. Volunteers agree to read and abide by this Code of Conduct as well as The Forktree’s Project Covid Safe Policy, Workplace Health & Safety Policy, Child Safe Policy and any other policies nominated in their induction by The Forktree Project.

With many thanks,

The Forktree Project team.
