Forktree Project’s goal is to restore the land to what it was like pre-clearance in the 19th century. This will involve re-establishing tens of thousands of native trees and shrubs on the property that over time will bring back native animals, insects and birds.

A tree sequesters approximately a tonne of carbon dioxide over its life so a fully restored site will also sequester tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide helping to combat climate change. To give an idea, the average Australian’s carbon footprint each year is roughly 25 tonnes.

These two objectives help to play a small part in countering the two biggest threats facing us: Biodiversity Loss and Climate Change.
